back from the cruise and raring to go
Well last week was one the bigger highlights of my life. Going on a cruise with a bunch of crazy claydies to the land of sun and fresh fruit, laughter, creative energy, and a ship? What more could one ask for. Well, it would of been better if my partner had been there but I did survive without her.
At our last shore stop, Cabo San Lucas, I did a walking tour by myself, just to soak in the atmosphere and see if I could find something for inspiration. Little did I know that by walking into a hole in the wall shop hidden behind all the flash and glitz, would I find the inspiration. Let me preface it with a bit of history. When my mom was alive she was working on a needlepoint Aztec sun calendar. I loved how it was turning out. Mom passed before she got it finished and somewhere the pattern and directions got lost. Well, in this little hole in the wall store there was the calendar….hand painted on suede and signed by the artist. Of course it made me think of the one mom didn’t get finished so I bought it. it was worth every penny in my book. Dead center of the calendar is a great design….the inspiration I was seeking. This will be my next cane. I have started mixing the clay colors and tomorrow I hope to get the blends made. Time will tell if this will be a decent cane or not.
