A Change from Clay

by Kathi on Thursday, August 23, 2007

This last weekend there was a bike and rod fund raiser for the counties Veterans memorial wall. My DP, who has a serious wheel and engine fetish, decided to enter her 1965 HD servi-car into the antique bike category. There were some seriously nice vehicles there at the show!

I went to visit and have a picnic lunch with her and did some drooling myself. They also had a table full of trophies that were from 2′ to 5′ plus tall. I told her if she won to call I would bring the truck to schlepp the trophy home. Munchie and I headed home (it was getting warm and near nap time you know!) and we waited and waited to hear the results. The next thing I know I hear the servi-car outside and the garage door opening. I walk out to see Karen parking the servi-ca in the garage with this ginormous trophy tied into the trunk, standing up. Oy!! it almost didn’t fit in the garage! I unstrapped it, untied it, and put it down beside the servi-car and placed Karen beside it.
The ginormous trophy.
holy crow! the dang thing is taller then she is! Yep…she won best of category in antique motorcycles. I am so very proud of her and her servi-car. this makes 2 wins she has had with it!

by Kathi on Saturday, August 18, 2007

I finally have gotten some new canes and beads up in my store. The newest cane is the SW Butterfly I posted about earlier. There are also some floral canes listed now. I also added some fun funky faux paper beads. thanks for looking.

New Items

I just finished a new SW Indian design cane that is waiting for reduction. I am, of course, nervous about the reduction, but that is so normal for me :) Here is a picture of it pre-reduction so you can see how big it is.

SW Indian Butterfly

I was shooting for faux turquoise, fax MOP, and faux fire agate. Lets see if it works once reduction happens.

I also I just listed a new cane covered turtle on Etsy. If you have a turtle lover in your life this might be a good gift for them. It is half a goose egg shell. I made all the canes and laid swarovski crystals on the waves on the top. A sneak preview for you :)

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Busy Week

by Kathi on Sunday, August 5, 2007

Last week was intensely busy….for me. I spent most of the week making new canes, florals and leaves, and creating finished jewelry from the canes. This weekend was taking pictures and getting items into the store.

Gentle thwapping by Cat got me moving a bit more then usual. Being held “accountable” by another artist is very good for me. It motivates me, drives me to go beyond my little box, to try new ideas and concepts. It’s all good in my book.
