A New Clay Inspired Item

by Kathi on Monday, September 17, 2007

Has been put up in my CafePress Store. I think everyone might enjoy it. It is a 2008 Polymer Clay from Around the World calendar. I hope to be stocking it here in my Dragonsglass store soon, but until then, if you want one, they can be gotten at the above link.

New Neckpiece Set

by Kathi on Monday, September 17, 2007

It has been a while since I have created a set including wire work and clay. Well I decided to make some canes ala Lisa at Polka Dot Creations and though…hmmmm I bet these would make a fun set. And so the adventure began. It took a bit longer then normal for me to get this finished…life sort of got in the way. However, I made myself sit down and finish it this morning. I am rather happy with how it turned out :)

Of course I see several things that can be changed and made better on the next rendition I make. But…all in all this one is ok. And, because the PC Police pointed out (not very subtly and very public) my major fubar…I need to add that Jana’s newest earrings shown on her site inspired me to add the extra two dangles on these earrings. Sorry about that Jana….life sort of overwhelmed my brain and I wasn’t thinking when I posted.

What I have been doing Lately

by Kathi on Wednesday, September 12, 2007

Beside having way too much dental work done (which cramps the creativity) I was asked to help the children make mezuzot at the first two days of Sunday school at Temple. It was fun and it really did take two Sundays to get as many kids at the table that wanted to make mezuzot. Even a few adults made one.

I did the prep work so all the kids needed to was decorate the cover. I made 52 sheets with the Chai on them already. I then went through my cane boxes and took in cane pieces that I thought the kids might like in decorating their covers with. I picked well :D The kids loved their choices.

Once set up, each child got a cover sheet, I sliced the canes they wanted and they decorated. it was fun. Thank goodness I had the teacher helping! I did 6 students at a time. I figured that was the limit for me and kids. Even our Ha-Gan kids (2-4 y/o) had fun. The kids put their name on a piece of paper and then placed their cover on that so I could keep track of which one goes to which child. Once they had finished their decorating I slide them into a box to take home, construct and bake for them.

At home I made bottom pieces, cut out a square hole in the back, placed a test tube with the S’hma scroll in it, covered it with their decorated tops and then baked them. That was a long procedure. My little convection/toaster oven can only hold 6 of them at a time. Of course I forgot to take a picture of the first Sundays batch but here is the last batch, all ready to be delivered this Sunday.

Shul Mezuzot

L’Shanna Tovah to each and all.
