So not a happy camper

Today I attempted to finish a cane I had in th process for a couple days. It wasn’t the size of my mondo canes, just a wee pound maybe. Even reducing the components to build the kaleidescope made my wrist ache big time. Just when I put all the pieces together I noticed that where I had the calcified cyst removed three months ago was all swollen. oops. used it too much I thought. Then I felt it. Nope, not the nice mushy feeling of a swollen wrist, but a nice medium large lump that felt just like what the cyst felt like. *sigh* I have this feeling that the cyst is coming back. Back into the splint I go. I guess my time as a caner is coming to and end. At least a caner that makes big canes.

Hoping you’re wrong Kathi… and knowing that whatever happens will be ok…the exploration with polymer clay is endless…

for your fingers to G_d’s ears Mel. I hope I am wrong too. But, for now I am not going to cane for a while. I ahve some op art sculptural ideas percolating right now. Something triggered by very tiny seed pods all over my yard.

Oh, boy I can really relate to what you’re going through, Kathy ! A few weeks ago, during a ‘kaleidoscope caning marathon’, I developed a very sore wrist and shoulder, and had to stop claying for almost a week. The multiple reductions did me in, I think! There doesn’t seem to be any permanent damage, fortunately, but now I always do wrist and shoulder stretches before claying, and take a break every half hour or so…

well, I made a small cane today that didn’t need much in the way of reduction so at least I can do *wee* ones….at least wee to me. But I have a feeling the biggun’s are gone with the wind for me, unless I can find a reducing slave to go with the sanding slave I am looking for.
