Look out world!!

The Erev Purim is tomorrow night and we all know what *that* means. It means the Megillah reading at Temple, fun times and groggers!! I was given a bare grogger by a friend. It is only a measley 18 inches long :D In other words, it is HUGE and LOUD!!! Woooo hoooo! Here it is in it’s naked glory.

naked grogger

After a few long days in the clayroom, I finally ahve this puppy covered in clay and paint. It is wild and crazy (rather like Purim) and I think will be a hit at Temple….as long as I don’t make noise with it.

Yeppers, fun fun fun. I don’t think I will show it before the Megillah reading. For a bit more information on Purim….check out Judaica Journal and for some neat Judaica Art about it.

Happy Claying!

Finally!

I can share the creations I made for the “Rock” swap with the wonderful clayer’s of Australia! They were very generous to allow me to join in and share some American art with them. I thought about what I would make for a few weeks and then bounced my idea off a Oz friend. I decided that most folks would be doing jewelry (I was right) and I wanted to do something totally different. Being that I love making canes of Native American inspired art I decided to make a wall hanging. Since it needed to be of the “rock/stone” theme I decided on three different types of stone: Turquoise, Sandstone, and Slate.

with that decision made I started the production line. I needed to make 10 of the “same” thing. Well as same as one can make hand crafted art. Nine were for swapping and the tenth was going on display in a gallery/shop in Australia. Not only display, but there would be a competition/judging of all the items. The winner gets some wonderful Christie Freisen items. I am amazed that I actually remembered to take pictures of the items before I sent them to Oz. Here they are

Judging

The swapmeister posted pictures on Flickr of all the swapee’s images after she sent the packages on their way. Oh wow, they ahve created some amazing pieces. I am so looking forward to getting my package……most likely a couple weeks after everyone else!! Patience is a virtue eh?

Have a wonderful clayful week!

Spring has Sprung

and that is making it really hard to stay in the studio. When the sun is out, the road calls to us to put the top down on the car and go cruisin. Yesterday I answered the call of the sun. So did Munchie. We went crusin and Munchie says she looked so cool crusin.

Sorry about the picture…my phone camera only does so well.

Today I will be in the clay studio working on finishing up some things that have been sitting on the table for days….a few for weeks. Who know’s….I might actually have something for show and tell this evening. I wish all of you a wonderful day!

Upcoming sale

by Kathi on Sunday, March 9, 2008

I am going to spend today scanning magazine covers and books to list for sale on my site. I wanted to give everyone that reads this a heads up in case they want to spend money with DaDragon. Also, out in my studio I have the tumbler running with glass scraps in them. In a week or so I will be offering bags of “sea glass” for sale too. It makes for neat additions to clay projects.

eeeeeps, I just scanned all the magazines I found and there are 36 of them!! The sales page may not make it up until tomorrow!!
