Welcome, 2012

3 Comments, Family, Life, News, personal challenge, polar bear plunge, by Dragonsglass.

As I look back to last year, I am actually impressed with how much work I did and how I grew in my art. For this year I wish myself the same or more. For you who actually do read my poorly kept up blog, I wish you health, happiness, peace, love, laughter, and time to create to your hearts content. On a lighter note, I have decided it is time to cross a few things off my “bucket list”. The first will be crossed off today…around 11 am. I am crazy, I am an idiot, but I AM going to do a Polar Bear plunge today. I have always wanted to do one and a friend did it last year, will be going again this year, so we are going to do it together. And yes, Karen will be taking pictures and video taping so every one can see me being abso frakkin lutely crazy. Can life be any better then this?

Finally, back in the studio!

2 Comments, polymer clay, by Dragonsglass.

Lately I have been taking care of my wife after she had shoulder surgery, which meant no studio time for me. Well, her recovery is going so well that she is back to work two weeks post surgery. She is a pencil pusher and it wasn’t her dominant arm so all is well. She is continuing PT three times a week and is getting better with more range of movement every day. I am so proud of her. I got back into the studio with a vengeance a couple of days ago. My muse has been slapping my brain for the last month or so and now I needed to listen. While a design was/is percolating in my head, I worked on some rainbow beads for a friend in Scotland. Here are a few of the ones I have made so far. None of them are sanded or buffed, just fresh out of the oven. Of course I HAD to do something with the cane ends right? So I made some funky flowers for the little bud vase in my VW Bug. It is a convertible so real flowers or cloth flowers don’t hang in so well Today I will be making MORE rainbow beads, some more swirlies and hopefully get to work on this earring design my muse came up with. Have a wonderful clayful day!

A new Site

No Comments, Family, News, by Dragonsglass.

I was gone last week, an unexpected trip to Denver for a funeral. However, while I was there, spending time with my heart sister, she showed me this great bumper sticker she got from her nephew. I managed to get one also for my car.I think it says it all. What a wonderful way to gently remind yourself that even though a loved ones physical being is gone, the love for them will always be forever in your heart, mind and soul. Ryan has a wonderful site set up for a clothing line with this saying. I know I am going to get a sweatshirt when I get rich and famous.

A Wonderful Surprise.

7 Comments, personal challenge, by Dragonsglass.

This is something I have been holding inside of me until it was the “right time” to share. Lisa Pavelka has written her 4th book, over 200 pages of yummy things to look at and to create. Lisa’s blog. Well, last year I was asked to submit some pieces for consideration in the gallery section of the book. Since one of my goals was to get published I went for it. Hey, the worst thing that could happen is that I wouldn’t get selected. At the last Sandy camp (Oct 2009) Lisa came up to me and told me that my piece had been selected for the gallery. OIKS!! I kept saying “no way!! seriously??? honest??” And Lisa kept saying yes yes yes. Yesterday Lisa finally posted on FB and showed the front cover. So, now, I can and will post on my blog. Am I happy? You bet! I can not wait until my copy arrives so i can see it in real life….so to speak. Have a wonderful clayful week.

Have you heard the good news? The International Polymer clay Guild has gone…well International! And now, The folks outside the US are ramping up to bring the Americans visions of wonderful clay works created by people most of us have not heard of. Check out the full write up on Anke’s BlogI am so looking forward to seeing new beautiful works of art from new people (well, new to me!)

Update From Jenny Pat on her stolen items.

No Comments, News, by Dragonsglass.

“The show was the AQS Quilt show in Des Moines Iowa, the theft happened sometime between 8PM and 9:30PM, as we were loading after the show. The case is silver, wheeled, with locks on it, about the size of a suitcase. I do have to say the security at the event center was very good! I really have no clue as to how this happened, they even have video camera’s in the loading dock area, but unfortunetly there was nothing to help me. The angles were wrong or something. I have been working closely with the police department there. And although I have to call my customers, explain the situation, and re-vamp some orders, this is actually making for better customer relations.” The above is from Jenny Pat in an update post on PCC. So if you live in the area of the show, please please keep your eyes peeled.  Thank you very much!

Keep your eyes peeled.

Jenny Paterson from “Quilted in Clay” posted this to the PCC delphi message board and asked that we pass it on. “2 weeks ago while packing up after a show, my case with ALL my finished “Quilted in Clay” beads was stolen out of my trailer. Along with all my findings, crystals and beads I use as accents to make necklaces. I am estimating that I had upwards of 4500 clay beads in various sizes inside that case! I make beads in in 4 different sizes and shapes, in EACH of the 33 designs I currently have listed on my web site. Plus a number that I don’t have on the website. These shapes are 3/4″ mobius beads, 5/8″ square, 1/2″ square and 3/8″ square. All finished and drilled. It was suggested to me to keep an eye on eBay and Etsy for these. Which I plan on doing, but these are huge shops and I can’t monitor them alone, so I am asking for help. If you all would not mind taking a look at the current designs on my website: http://www.quiltedinclay.com/products/jewelry/quilted_jewelry1.htm And if you happen to see something that might be my beads, please let me know. I am devastated! We are talking hours and hours of work just GONE! Some of these designs, I don’t have any cane left, so I can’t even make any more beads, unless I remake the cane. I am having to call customers and tell them I can’t sell them the items they ordered, and ask them to choose…
