I am back

No Comments, Family, Life, News, personal challenge, by Dragonsglass.

Been a long nine months since I last posted. Life has a way of kicking you in the ass and then when you are down, kicking some more. My wife and I have been dealing with the unexpected death of her mom in May and we are now finally beginning to get back into our normal routine. Then toss in daily life’s ups and downs and it sent me running from the computer. Just not enough time in the day for claying much less computing. However, I am back now and I will try to post a bit more often then every nine months. I did manage to get a few things accomplished while I was away from the clay table and computer. The second ICPA retreat happened and was a lot of fun….I am STILL working on video editing from that. I also was hired to create a magical tree in a first grade classroom this year. obviously I needed it pretty much done before the start of school. It came out awesome and the kids love it. Here are a couple pictures. Now that the tree is done I am immersing myself in creating with the clay (and video editing) and hoping my Muse comes back in force. November is NaNoWriMo so I am hoping she will also be into writing. Gads, isn’t fun to be so dang busy you don’t know where to start? Happy creating!

“L’Chiam-To Life”

4 Comments, News, polymer clay, by Dragonsglass.

No matter that rocks surround us, our roots strive to connect with the earth, forging through the hardness, anchoring us. As we grow, our limbs reach heavenward, striving to anchor with the heavens. And with the anchors, we live. L’Chiam

frustrated

2 Comments, News, by Dragonsglass.

I am frustrated with the LChiam lettering. It is not looking right hanging from the leafy wires so now I either need to secure it to the lava rock or the edges of the base. neither way looks right to me. I have a feeling I am going to have to redo the lettering…..maybe onto black lava rock chips or something. *grumblesnort*

but the DSL gods decided differently. So, it is a “today” post instead. Yesterday was spent refining my “Roots” tree. I added highlights to the tree itself and then worked on the black lava rock it is growing out of. I also added the resin to the top of the letters. Today will be making the leaf cane I will be using and possibly adding it to the letters along with the thinner gauge copper wire that will secure them to the tree. I am very happy with how it is looking so far. Here are some more pictures for your viewing pleasure. I guess it is time to get those leaves growing! Come back later for more updates. Thanks for looking!
