Busy, Busy, Busy

I have hooked up with Swap-bot for something different in the way of swaps. Of course the first swaps I joined are dragon themed….ATC’s (artist trading cards). I hadn’t made any ATC’s before but hey, dragons! Dragons always works for me so I jumped in feet first. I am in two different swaps. Dragon love is one. In this one I have two swap partners and will make each of them two ATC’s. The second one is a fantasy creature swap…anything to do with dragons, gnomes, elves, fairy and so on. Of course these will be dragons also. I will make one dragon card and one transfer/embellished card for my two partners in this one. The transfer cards are in the process right now but I thought I would share the Dragon Eye cards I have completed.

I am also in a geometric cane swap through Polymer Clay Central and have my five groups finished. I am going to make a few more to send in case the swapmeister has some drop outs. She can fill the spots with mine.

Geometric cane swap

I also have a …well either a necklace or bracelet (depends on how many cane slices I have) using a chain maille weave and taking cane slices from the swap canes (from my leftover sections) attaching them using the rings I am using for the weave. I am already to start, I just need to sit down with the optivisor and my tools. The cane slices are all drilled awaiting their rings.

Nothing like having five or more projects going at once. Thats what makes life so fun.

or what can one woman do with eyes and hearts? Heh, I figured the title would grab your interest. Yep…you know about the eyes…dragon eyes to be exact. I have managed to find a few spare moments to add some more to my collection and thought I would share with you.

In between making eyes, I made 50 cancer awareness heart pins, and will be making more in the days to come. Next month is our city’s Relay for Life walk. Since my eyes weren’t selling I thought that I could make these hearts and ask for a $5 donation and then give the money to our team. I have had too many people in my life be touched by cancer. My mom passed from cancer, my brother is a survivor, my partner is a survivor, a good frined passed two years ago. Yes, it is time to raise enough funds to cure this insidious disease.

Evolution of the DragonEyes

by Kathi on Friday, April 13, 2007

It seems my muse has an evyl sense of humor. A couple of days ago I was taking my morning shower and I was smacked upside the head with her latest desire. Pod DragonEyes. Hello? What the heck is a pod dragoneye?

Seems the silly muse inside me remembered the pods I had collected from trees last fall. Now she wanted a dragon eye looking out of the pod hinting at the dragon inside. Yeah right…like a dragon can fit in a pod. I believe that, sure I do! Don’t you?

So yesterday I was planted at my clay table to create this pod Dragoneye. Not bad for a prototype if I say so myself.

Ok…so maybe she does have a good idea, but lordy, lets not tell her that ok? I would never get anything that I wanted to do done if she knew that. This morning I was back at the clay table and three more pod eyes popped forth. I am not that happy with the shine in their eyes…but that can be fixed.

I can feel her in my brain, tweaking things in her mind at how to make these eyes even more outrageous. Help me!!!!!!
