New Art

by Kathi on Thursday, August 14, 2008

Yesterday was insane. I got no time at all in the clay room yet I have some new art to share with you. You see, Karen and I have a ritual we do to celebrate an event. We get new tattoos. So, yesterday I celebrated our legal marriage and finally got a dragon tattoo. The only guidelines I gave the artist was I don’t like mean dragons, it had to be a purple dragon, and I wanted a couple cherry blossoms. The design and colors choices besides that were left to him. This is his art form not mine. So here is my new ink, less then 24 hours old. I LOVE IT!!!

And of course I have to share one of my fur kids with you. Zuma has decided that she is my personal groomer. Her favorite thing to do when I am either fresh out of the shower or the pool, is to sit behind me on the sofa and groom my hair. Sometimes I get some really funky hairdo’s out of her work. Now if I could just get her to NOT concentrate on one spot with that raspy tongue of hers my head would be happier.

Must groom mom!

You all have a great day!

finally some things finished

Between the commission windows and life stuff, it has been very hard to get into the creative mode needed in the clay room, but I finally did.

The first thing is a crane I got asked to make in celebration of a life that ended too soon. This crane will be flying east to Germany for the gentleman’s family.

In memory of Dr B.

The next two are a couple of hamsa I made using cutters I got from Iris Mishly of Israel. They make cutting the hamsa so much easier.

Another bracelet made using the technique Sylvie shared on her blog.

and finally, a pair of earrings I made using a sheet of MG and some copper accents.

SO there y’all go. I am off to the clayroom to clay some more. Serious clay pounding therapy is needed!

No, I didn’t fall off the face of the Earth

Life has just been a wee bit insane. I have been working up the patterns for the two commission windows and finally have the full size patterns printed and I will be starting on the first one tomorrow. I then will be conditioning about 30 pounds of clay so I have enough ready to do the clay window. Munro’s rocks for discount :D I am hoping I ordered WAY too much clay for the window so I ahve some left to make pretties with. I am missing being able to sit in the studio and be creative.

I did manage to get a few things made….we were doing a focal bead swap at our monthly guild meeting so I made a few for that. For your viewing pleasure here they are :)

what can I say? it’s spikey Octafishy anyone? it wasn’t supposed to be a fish……
for the rest of them, you can head over to my Flickr account

besides doing patterns and a wee bit of claying, I spent time keeping my wee child under “control (so to speak). Wee Peiggi decided she needed to help me with my projects…..like painting my small “window”.

or drinking MY soda
Dr Pepper…yum
OR going swimming without her life vest…..
Surfs up!!
Or…..thinking she is a master chef and getting ready to concoct something with a wee pumpkin (to her it is ginormous!)
Holy Pumpkin Batman~!!~

I should of taken note to Moe’s excitement with The Bruce. I should of figured out that all those wyld wee ones from Chris are wyld for sure. But I tell you….life would be oh so boring without my wee one.

and now….off to cook supper. You have a clayful rest of the week :D

something a wee bit different then clay

I saw on the national news today a story about a 11 year old girl who loves animals. When she heard about all the animals that have been abandoned as their owners have been foreclosed on and so on. She came up with the idea of free kibbles from the freerice.com site. I ask ya, how hard is it to answer a simple dog trivia question and have 20 kibbles donated to animals that have lost their “forever home”? So, if you love fur kids like I do, I challenge you to click the banner and answer each day. Thanks.

A new addition to our family

by Kathi on Monday, June 30, 2008

Being as that way back in my families history, there is a wee drop of scottish blood, it was only appropriate that a wee highland cow join our family after K and I got married. We wanted to adopt another child, so we cruised on over to the home of the Wee Highland Cows and made our choice. Last week the wee Miss Peigi arrived to a celebration in our home.

Of course the first thing Peigi needed was the great outdoors. One wee one can only hold it for so long so out we went so she could….well you know. Once she was done being shy she met the first of her new siblings, the torties.

Peigi meets tortie two
EEEEKKKKK!! A Monster!!!!!!
oh, not a monster
ooooo no monster, a TAXI!!!

She had so much fun “running” around the backyard with her new siblings. I think it is now time to let her talk :)

Well, once mom made me getted off my new sister we wented inside and she let me get on the computer and catch a wee glimpse of wee home, er my old wee home. it was nice seeing the green grass of Scotland again but let me tell you, theres grass here too, and a ot of other things for me to chew one, er look at.

home!! er…..old home

Then my other mum came home (did you know they just got married? and then they picked ME to be their new baby!!) and off we went to mum1’s bank to change her name, fun stuff! Mum2 has a cool car, nice little place for me to sit where I can watch everything!

mums car

So, there we were at the bank. I leaped on Mum2’s shoulder and I think I scared her…such a funny look on her face.

mumswife.jpg nice man

This was the nice man that helped mums to get things fixed at the bank. He let me play on HIS computer.

Then off we went to music practice, with a wee side trip on the way. Mums said this places was special for me…Club Tam. Sort of cause I wear a tam!

club Tam

I asks you, how kewl is that? Finally to music practice. OOOO it is in a BIG place mums call Temple. There is a very nice lady there they call Rabbi who showed me the Torahs, held in their very own special Ark (no, not like Noah’s)

Rabbi and Ark and me

She is a very nice lady and sings real pretty. I also got to watch Auntie Connie play on her piano. I wanted to play too but she said not right then.
Connie and Peigi

Auntie Connie’s wife is named Peggie too (but she sure spells it weird). Once they started playing music (my mums, connie and Rabbi (singing)) I just sat back and listened, what a great concert! See? I even got into the concert mood an whipped out mum1’s lighter.
concert time

We finally got home and I collapsed. Mum1 didn’t, she had to finish Jessica’s Yad (I didn’t know what that was til mum splained it to me.) So I decided she needed sum help with her beading. I made sure the bead surface wouldn’t fly away, cause no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t hang on to those teeny tiny beads!

beading beading

well, mum1 is looking at me and tapping her fingers, I *think* that means she wants her computer back. So, i guess i best sign off for now.
love Peigi (from sunny california!!)

Mum1 here, my lord she is a chatty wee thing isn’t she? We are so enjoying her addition to our family and she is being well loved. I think she will next share about meeting her canine siblings. Have a clayful week!
