Upcoming sale

by Kathi on Sunday, March 9, 2008

I am going to spend today scanning magazine covers and books to list for sale on my site. I wanted to give everyone that reads this a heads up in case they want to spend money with DaDragon. Also, out in my studio I have the tumbler running with glass scraps in them. In a week or so I will be offering bags of “sea glass” for sale too. It makes for neat additions to clay projects.

eeeeeps, I just scanned all the magazines I found and there are 36 of them!! The sales page may not make it up until tomorrow!!

Torah Learning Center

by Kathi on Sunday, December 2, 2007

And you ask yourself what does this have to do with polymer clay? Well, after a year of construction our new Torah Learning Center at Temple Beth El if finally being dedicated today at 2:00pm PT. A week before my wrist surgery Rabbi asked me to create the door numbers and letters, and to make base mezuzot for the kids to decorate. These mezuzot will be placed on the frames of each classroom door. I only have pictures of 9 of them, which have non-kosher scrolls. We also have 5 that have kosher scrolls inside them. I think the kids did an amazing job decorating them!

Rabbi didn’t want anything fancy for the door letters and numbers, just simple with a few decorations. So the classroom numbers are faux wood with a few Magan David and Hebrew letters on them.

And finally, the new office needed something besides a piece of paper taped to the door, so I created faux green/gold wood letters with a simple outline. The final letter has a Magan David on it and plant.

Now that this project is done, and the wrist is almost all healed, I can get to some other projects that have been percolating in the back of my mind. Along with making more eyepod pen holders, I am hoping to try out some new ideas that include the use of the softglass cording in a “not normal” way. Yep…thats all the hint you are going to get. I am so mean that way aren’t I? BTW…the eyepod pen holders should be up in the Dragonsglass store by Monday afternoon. Just a heads up…there will be a limited stock so if you want one for a holiday present…..run fast to the store when it is announced. If you are thinking of buying one and want a specific color scheme, post here and it might appear in the store :)

thank you for reading, looking, and possibly shopping!

Newly listed

by Kathi on Saturday, November 17, 2007

In my store here and on my etsy store, a few Ho-Ho-H-Ogres. The link to my etsy store is over in the left column and to get to the store here click on *store* in the upper navigation bar.

I am taking a wee break from creating new things. I just had minor surgery on my wrist and am wrapped to kingdom come. The dressing comes off in 5 days so maybe then I can get back to my clay. Until then I will try and get some focals stung to list soon.

Have a great weekend!

Busy Week

by Kathi on Sunday, August 5, 2007

Last week was intensely busy….for me. I spent most of the week making new canes, florals and leaves, and creating finished jewelry from the canes. This weekend was taking pictures and getting items into the store.

Gentle thwapping by Cat got me moving a bit more then usual. Being held “accountable” by another artist is very good for me. It motivates me, drives me to go beyond my little box, to try new ideas and concepts. It’s all good in my book.
